Multiply a cell with a number but when there is no data show a zero

  • I'm making a worksheet so that when data has been entered it will automatically calculate the tax, however right now it shows it as $0.12.
So basically right now I have one cell waiting for data and another cell with the formula =product(i2,0.12), this cell will show the answer as being 0.12, how do I make it a zero until data has been entered?

    Naa, don't feel dumb :)

The PRODUCT function ignores blank values, which in multiplication speak means multiply by 1...the times operator "*" counts blank cells as zero. That's why the difference in answers.
