Hi all,
Once more I am in need of some assitance!
I have two workbooks, one is essentially a more up to date version of the other one and has more rows in it than the original has. However, the original workbook has had a lot of data entries made that are not taken into account by the new version of the workbook.
Examples are attached and labelled 'Spreadsheet A' and 'Spreadsheet B'.
Firstly, as you can see, Spreadsheet B has all the same rows that A has, and some additional ones. Secondly, as you can also see, the new entires are mixed in between the old enties and overall they are not necessarily in the same order. Thirdly, there has been data entered in the columns in spreadsheet A which is not present in spreadsheet B.
What I woud like to achieve is to use a search function of some kind in Spreasdheet B which searches in column A of Spreadsheet B, compares it to column A in Spreadshseet A and finds if there is a match. If there is amatch I would like to copy the entire original row from Spreadsheet A and have it replace the appropriate row in Spreadsheet B.
For example;
In Spreadsheet A, row 4 "Blue Car, 3 Doors" is repeated in Spreadsheet B but in row 5. I would like the search to discover that match, and then copy the entire row 4 from Sreadsheet A and replace the entire row 5 in Spreadsheet B. It must be dynamic as the rows are not in the same order in the second spreadsheet.
I previously had success using the MATCH argument to determine if the rows are repeated and returning a 'Yes' / 'No' answer, but what I now need to achieve is completely beyond me and I suspect requires a VBA code of some sort. T
he actual workbooks contain hundreds of rows but I believe that I have accurately re-created the basic rules with the attached examples.
If it isn't possible to overwright the rows in Spreadsheet B, is there some other way of returning the data (possibly in a new workbook) so that I don't have to make all these checks manually and copy them one by one?
Any assistance would be grately (and gratefully) appreciated. {Edit - Forgot to mention, version of excel is 2007}
Thanks.
