Maximum Row returns 1 instead of 1000

Max returns the value of "1" but there are over 1000 entries:

Max = Sheets("Sheet1").Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row

The numbers start in cell A1 and go over cell A1000. Every combination of Sheets(1), Sheets("Sheet1") has been tried still max=1.

Is your data in a worksheet with the name "Sheet1"?

Your code works fine for me.
Since we don't have the benefit of seeing alll of your code . . . just a guess.

Did you, by change, use an incorrect column reference (i.e. you used "A", but needed "B")?
Are all of the 1000 entries in column-A?
