Stupidest question / answer of the month

Its not Excel related but....
I recently intoduced my parents to a neighbour "..and these are my parents, Mum and Dad".

OK, I know I'm not s'pose to nominate other people, but I just gotta post this one...

There was a blood drive at the office and the local Blood Bank was there with nurses to collect pints of blood from donors.

It came to be my turn in line (you can see where this is going.)

The blood bank nurse asked, "What is your name?"

I said, "Aaron Blood".

She said, "Blood? How do you spell that?"

My reply was, "You don't know how to spell Blood?"

This is a classic.

I wanted to get a fromat to 30th of Feb, and wondered why it would not work!!

Oh dear !!!

A wasted day!!!

OK OK OK so I know its not about XL .....

But my mother in law asked me question tonight and before I could answer I thought of this Post.

MIL: "Adam...."
ME: "Yes?"
MIL: "You know Spencer Street Station?"
ME: "Yes......."
MIL: "What Street is it on?"
ME: {long pause} "Errrrrm ..... that would be ...... Spencer Street?"

I know this may sound hard to believe but if it helps clarify things a little MIL went to see 'Anger Management' last week and thought it was a documentary.

The OP wanted a formula that would round up a finish time to nearest 15 mins and then calculate the time worked as a decimal.

Well I started down one track and there was no way I was going to venture off of the path I was on. Eventually this path led me to a solution that would have looked like:

=TEXT(HOUR((VALUE(B3/0.0104166666666667)+(1-(VALUE(B3/0.0104166666666667)-ROUNDDOWN(VALUE(B3/0.0104166666666667),0))))*0.0104166666666667-A3) & "."& (100/(60/MINUTE((VALUE(B3/0.0104166666666667)+(1-(VALUE(B3/0.0104166666666667)-ROUNDDOWN(VALUE(B3/0.0104166666666667),0))))*0.0104166666666667-A3))),"00.00")

Damn I was proud of that answer!
Right up until Yogi Anand (a top bloke for those who have not had the pleasure of dealing with him) gave this alternative:

=CEILING((B3-A3)*24,0.25)

So- what do I win??????

My own stupidity causes me to nominate myself for the following question:

As I am sitting at my brother's computer in his home looking at the worksheet he has asked for my help on: "Do you have Excel at home?"

I really meant to ask about work (he's a teacher and the school has Mac's) so I wouldn't do anything that would foul him up. He was as unrelenting in his mocking me as I would have been to him had the tables been turned. :lol:

Here's mine, I received a request for a formula to count the number of commas in a cell. Went to the complete trouble of writing a UDF only to have someone else (Aladin Akyurek) point out:

=LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,",",""))
