Select Cell Multiplier by Name

  • I've mentioned my credit card reconciliation sheet in another thread. Basically I use a Qantas card for all of my purchases and to track reimbursements and rewards when using it.

While this is genuine financial maintenance for me - maybe 80% of the reason for the workbook is because I just love learning new ways to use Excel.

Usually I can figure something out pretty easily myself but I've got a couple things that I can't figure out how to phrase to find the answer I'm looking for.

In this case - I have the following section:

In previous versions of this workbook Column I used only a base rate point conversion. Any $1 transaction on the card generates 0.75 Qantas points and for most purchases this is fine.

However, Qantas partners with a couple hundred retailers and offers various points multipliers when you shop there.

I have another table on a separate sheet with this retailers as below:

Were this a shorter set of options I'd just use a long *IF statement. However, the huge amount of data means it's a sloppy mess and too large a formula to adhere to character limits. I'm sure there's a more elegant way to manage this but I have been unable to come up with one.

Looking forward to answers and learning something new.
