Trying to filter a column

  • Trying to filter by month

This filter is to filter the months (In column 6) on a sheet then copy the result over to another sheet but it won`t filter the first sheet?

Do I need to use a count x to count all filled-in cells in the column or do I need to use the date column (In Column 3) to filter?

  • Hello,

Your macro deals with a worksheet named : TGS JOB RECORD

Difficult to guess if this is what you are calling " the first sheet " ... ???

If you feel like saying "Thank You" for the help received, do not hesitate to click the "Smiley" icon, below, in the bottom right corner :)

  • I understand but I didn`t get a response from MrExcel so decided to try somewhere else as it`s fairly urgent.

Sorry if my crosspost upset people.

I also meant to alert you I had asked MrExcel forum but forgot to.

  • No problem ...:)

    Back to message #2 ...

You do need to clarify what you actually mean by ' filter the first sheet ' ...

  • Thanks a lot for the file :)

This will make things so much easier ... to understand ... and probably ... to solve ...;)

What do you call Sheet 1 ...???

If you feel like saying "Thank You" for the help received, do not hesitate to click the "Smiley" icon, below, in the bottom right corner :)

  • Great ... !!!

Do you mean this macro has never worked properly ...????

Can you give a simple example of what you would actually input as a Start Month and End Month in order to filter ...???

If you feel like saying "Thank You" for the help received, do not hesitate to click the "Smiley" icon, below, in the bottom right corner :)

  • Thanks for the info ...

Hopefully you have now reached the start line ...:):):)

    A couple of remarks :

    1. There is a rule you are imposing yourself ... which is not to be able to input the Month shown in the first six rows ...

Are you aware of this feature ? And is it a valid requirement ?

    2. In order to Filter Dates, it would make a lot more sense to use Column D ... i.e Realistic Completion Date as the Reference ...

Does it make sense to you ... or not ...?

If you feel like saying "Thank You" for the help received, do not hesitate to click the "Smiley" icon, below, in the bottom right corner :)

  • In the actual data. Can you attach a sample of your workbook.

If you r months are entered as dates then the AutoFilter will not filter with you inputbox entries because they are strings.
