I'm using MS Query in Excel and trying to figure out if it's possible to do something with the criteria. I am pulling from a database of items and their costs. Each item has a parent item, so it might be something like:

[/td][td]Parent Item #
[/td][/tr][tr][td]I11.1
[/td][td]I11
[/td][/tr][tr][td]I11.2
[/td][td]I11
[/td][/tr]
[/TABLE]
In my Criteria, I want to allow the user to enter the item #. But I want the query to return everything for that parent item. So whether they enter I11.1 or I11.2, they'd get everything where the parent is I11.
This is a very simple example but it won't always be as easy as taking of the .1 or .2 of the item (i.e. an item IABC could have a parent P11, so they are nothing alike).
I tried using a self-joined table but had no luck. Anyone have experience with this?
