Macro to export Excel data from different files to empty cells in another workbook

Hi everyone !
I am also new to this forum and a very early beginner in VBA. I am facing a problem.
I have some 700 odd excel files saved on my hard drive. I need some specific information from these files, at the max 20 cells from each of these files and I need them to be copied to a new workbook without opening every single excel file and also these files are protected.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
