I am updating multiple macros at my company, and I am looking for a way to "check for updates." Sometimes people don't have the latest macro, and it causes problems that have been already been fixed, but they don't know.
I thought about making an excel workbook that can be accessed to determine if the current macro is still working properly, or if it should be updated. Any other ideas?

Re: Check Macro for updates
You should be using an excel addin. If not how are you distributing the macros.

Re: Check Macro for updates
There are only 7 computers that get all the macros, so normally i go to each and import them manually.

Re: Check Macro for updates
Seems like hard work, but surely that way you know who has been updated. You could use a version number but what would you check against for the updates.
An excel addin is the best way to share macros. Are the computers networked?

Yeah, I'm thinking of having a simple spreadsheet with the dates of the most up to date macro, and have the macro at their computers check and compare dates

I think Roy is suggesting that you package your macro as an add-in, then store the latest release version on the network and configure your colleagues' machines to load it from that network location.
