Use COUNTIF on column that contains TRIM formula

  • Hi all

    im using the formula

    =COUNTIF(B:B, yellow)

to find how many times yellow appears in columb "B"

however columb "B" itself contains formula with the trim and substitute formulae that are taking information from other cells in the spreadsheet

can this be done with a formmula similar to =COUNTIF(B:B, yellow)

many thanks in advance for any help

    regards

    Paul

The TRIM function shouldn't make any difference, but you do need quote marks:

    =COUNTIF(B:B,"yellow")
