charting problems

Two problems occur when I plot XY with date as the X axis:
1. Gaps in the data cause a new plot series to be created.
2. When I try to set the scale, the x-axis is in serial date format, not normal format.

How to fix?

I think this page will help you:

It shows that using #N/A and hiding Columns/Rows will prevent Excel plotting cells.

To show Serial dates I think you would only need to change the format of the axis to General.

Thanks for the reply.

But, I was hoping to have the date format appear in the scale window in something other than serial number--just the normal date format: 2/5/03.

Any ideas?

Sorry EricW, I got it back-to-front on the date serial. Can't just format it to the date format you want? under the Number Tab of the Format Axis dialog ?

If the range you are referencing contains true date it should default to this anyway.
