Help with constructing a formula...

  • Help...I'm a newbie with Excel- and I can use some assistance...the Microsoft 'Help' is GREEK!!! My class is a group of young students- and I want to get them going....

I'm trying to construct a formula w/these guidelines: The kids own a Fruit stand-

i.e. They have 68 Apples, 32 Oranges, and 15 Peaches...It takes 5 Apples, 7 Oranges, and 6 Peaches to make a Fruit Salad. How many Fruit Salads can they make with the available inventory, and how much will remain...

This may sound simple to many of you...but w/out my calculator....

    Thanks..

    Hi,

    Welcome to Ozgrid forum!

With your example one can make 2.5 or 2 fruit salads, as there are not enough peaches available. But it doesn't require any formula.

Divide the number of number of fruits of availble(for each variety) with the number of fruits which makes it a salad and choose the lowest one of the three(in this case it is peaches: 15/6=2.5 or 2).
