Re: Add a calendar to right click
Made a minor alteration - the default date is now the current date.
Here's some better instructions
Right click on the cell that you want to add a date to. Then select Add Date, You can select any date that you wish - scroll through months and year by clicking on the drop-down arrow.
The Add Date button will enter the date to the Active Cell.
You can quickly undo the action by using the Edit Menu | Undo the date entry ; or Ctrl > Z.

Hey that's a sweet little addin. My hats off to you!
Re: Add a calendar to right click

Re: Add a calendar to right click
im getting a message that states "Could not load object because it is not available on this machine". Is there a way to fix this?
Re: Add a calendar to right click
made a few alterations.
Added a small calendar form for just checking dates.
The date displayed in the original form can be increased by clicking on the date box, decreased by double clicking.
Re: Add a calendar to right click
Improved the quick change idea with some direction from Andy Pope (thanks,Andy)
Click the day or month or year portion of the date displayed in the ComboBox and then use the + button on the keyboard to increase date by 1, - button will decrease date. This way day, month or year can be quickly changed.See attached QuickChange.zip for screen shots
Re: Add a calendar to right click
That's a nice little addin Roy, but as per MuskyKing's response, without the correct .ocx installed (I think it is mscomct2.ocx, which only seems to get installed half the time in most Excel installs), users will be left out in the dark. Unless you were use an installer and install and register the ocx, people will have problems.
I really wanted to use this control in one of my workbooks, but left it out because most of my users didn't have the ocx installed. I installed and registered the ocx as well as a number of .dlls for them via installer, but they still had problems, so i removed it and went with the form-based calender.
Another possible solution is that there are a number of possible common excel .dll and .ocx installers to be searched and found online, but they usually are not to be distributed with other software other than with the companies own...
Re: Add a calendar to right click
Hi Bryn
Only had that problem a couple of times. I have version 2 that doesn't use the DatePicker, but looks the same.
This has reminded me to dig it out & update to Version 2.
Re: Add a calendar to right click
What control does this new "date picker" use then?
199, hehe
Re: Add a calendar to right click
Hi RoyUK,
it is amazing!!
hats off!!
I am trying to implement it in my worksheet. Previously I was using a combo box with reference to list of upcoming days but was thinking about calendar like form.
Please let me know if there is a possibility to use it in a quicker way? I mean to set a specified cell and if you press right mouse button over that cell it automatically display calendar form. Not right click, then "Add Date to Cell".
I think it will help other users to use your addin in my spreadsheet even without knowledge of how to use it.
best regards and nice weekend
thanks for all your help in past and in future :thanx:
Re: Add a calendar to right click
I am working on a newer version and will post it when completed. Not sure when because I am extremely busy at the moment
Re: Add a calendar to right click
Hi RoyUK,
I was looking at your addin - as said previously it is amazing. But there is one mor thing - when it starts it always shows - as a startup month - march 2005. I am totally not familiar with building up an addins and therefore I cannot help (but I definetelly would like to...).

Re: Add a calendar to right click
I will look out my update & see where I was with it. Just finishing a big project at the moment, then I will look at that one.
Re: Add a calendar to right click
I've been working on a calendar.xla that does a right-click popup.
I'm using the office 2003 calendar control. One might have to
replace the calendar control itself with one's own version.
I think this code will work on Excel versions 2000 and up.
Haven't done a lot of testing yet, but it seems to work pretty
good.
When Excel is opened, Calendar is turned off.
Right click on cell and select "Turn Calendar On"
Now every cell that contains a date or is formatted as a date
will pop up the Calendar.
While the Calendar is on, there is an additional right click menu
option to pop up the Calendar when the selected cell is a non-date
format. That option will disappear when the Calendar is turned off
again.
Lifted some of this code off the internet. Gave references where
I have done so. Hope this is useful for someone.
Comments/fixes welcome :>)
Re: Add a calendar to right click
Hi royUK,
Nice going with the "AddDateLite".
Could you tell me if it's possible to have only a dropdown cell for the date or just a button beside the cell and when you click on the button, it show you a small calendar that when you click on the date, the calendar dissapear and the date goes in the cell ????
Thanks !!!
Re: Add a calendar to right click
Hacker
I have just finished testing a new version that doesn't rely on ActiveX controls. I will be uploading it soon. there's no point in really using a button to call it because it is attached to the right click menu.
The new version will be positioned next to the ActiveCell and if your Excel version allows it will be Modeless. It will also have a Installer to make sure that it is correctly installed. I hope to have it available by the weekend.
Re: Add a calendar to right click
I don't know if anyone would find this useful but I'm attaching a pop-up calendar that I built some time ago with input from many at this site. It does not use an ocx and works quite well.
You will note many various that it can be called or launched. However does not launch in any form of a right click menu.
Additionally, please note that I believe it did not work well with european date format (ie...day/month/year). I don't think that was ever resolved.
Re: Add a calendar to right click
Hello!
New here. From Poland.
Got one calendar but always was looking for the one under right click.
Cant run the one is able to download.
Is there a new version?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Add a calendar to right click: Fixed
The problem is that you probably need to install at least Access2003, then that object will be available.
