First Nasa did it with World Wind. Six months or so later Google did it with http://maps.google.com. Finally, Microsoft joins in with a satellite image and mapping system available for free at http://virtualearth.msn.com So far it only covers the US, but the rest of the World will follow.

Re: Microsoft launches Virtual Earth
Hey buddy,
Thanks for the update. I've downloaded the Google Earth thing. It was pretty cool. I'll have to give the MS one a go. Google had satellite images that were at least 1 year old (at least for the part of Mesa that I live in). I know this because the Motorola plant across from me has been in the process of being torn down for the last 12+ months. Google's image had the plant completely intact. Do you know how old the MS images are?
Thanks,
-

Re: Microsoft launches Virtual Earth
The MSN maps here in TX are definitely more recent than the google maps, that is maps.google.com as well as locally run google earth. The MSN "bird's eye view" feature is also pretty nifty.
