Office.NET

  • RE: OFFICE.NET

I can't seem to find an earlier post of mine regarding Office 2003, and whether I should upgrade from Office 2000 Professional.

I believe Jack in the U.K. (I think?) stated that other than XML and some other (more developer related) items the beta version of Office 2003 hasn't impressed him enough to suggest making the upgrade - but rather, waiting until Office.NET is released.

How do we know about Office.NET when Office 2003 is about to be released? Seems like bad marketing on MS's part. And, if Office 2003 is coming out in a few months, won't it be at least a year if not two before Office.NET comes out?

Does anyone know what features about Office.NET will be superior to Office 2003 and when it may be released?

It's interesing, The MS web site doesn't mention anything about Office.NET (or the supposed code name NGO) and there is very little (reliable or not?) information from speculative creations via Google. Does anyone know something I don't on this matter?

    Thanks so much! EDR

  • Hi EDR

Here's a link to your earlier post

Just a tip, if you use the SEARCH button you can search by user name, or use the FIND button at the bottom of any of your posts to find all your posts and I think you can find all posts from your profile page.

Yes, MS usually have at least 18 months between the releases.

I think we should not strive to always have the latest version.

As it is now I consider XL 2000 with SP-3 to be the most stable version we have at present.

XL 2002 need at least one more SP before it can challenge this version.

XL 2003 need at least one year after release.

  • Erm

Versions to have are Excel 97 and Excel 11 [2003] but Xp is rock solid I feel.

There is loads to come for Microsoft like Portal Server – One Note, and all the rest a good year ahead

    Back to the cut!

I do not like E2K just my view

E97 opened the gates to VBA guys and the world of Excel, Microsoft destroyed spreadsheets from that day

Xp is the best since 97. I know im against others here but that’s my views, but I just did not like 2000 so I stayed with 97 until XP. Excel 11 is very good some useful additions I happen to like

I will add if your on Excel 97 and want an update Excel 11 is it, if not wait for Excel 12

Kind of complex and a one to toss around for years to come
XML is the future believe me. As is DLM [down loads management’s]

Let me know if you have a question and mind and ill let you know what I can

    Kindest regards

The different ways it works and looks, i guess most of all as everyone else loved it I chose to avoid it.

The formula bar and layout, just never felt happy, different colours. so very soon i went back to Microsoft Excel 97.

But i really hated Microsoft Excel Xp, and now i love it, i must say in high and sight, i wish i had given Microsoft Excel 2000 a better chance, i guess i have miss out a little there.

As you know i love Microsoft Excel 11, and this is a good think.

Also i guess my mind and workings for warrant of upgrade, so Excel 97 did enough for me.

    Kindest regards
