Wonders if anybody knows if there is a function (formual) for finding the first derivative of a function?

IMO, it's impossible to get automatically the mathematical derivative of say x². derivative of x² = 2x, remember...
You have to resort to other (statistical or mathematical packages) unless someone else knows how to do this, but I don't.wigi

I didn't check Andy's link in full detail, but if it's code to compute the first derivative of a function, I'd be interested too. Is it?
