Watermarks?

  • 50% say that you can't put a Watermark on Excel and 50% say it's possible only in WordArt.
I need to put an image (jpg, gif or bit) for a watermark in excel.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE HELP

  • The best place for a watermark on excel is Arron Blood's site I don't have the url but I'm sure some has it.

Also I have seen some post just recently from him. His site is really good.

  • The wordart solution isn't a very good one. But I s'pose it will suffice in most situations.

I wouldn't even consider the wordart method a real watermark. It's really just a picture overlay with transparency.

There are two real watermark examples on my website though. Both examples are in the same "watermark.zip" example file.

  • have you checked out the option within your printer setup ?

    start
    settings
    control panel
    printers
    rightclick your default printer
    properties

one of the tabs will have a "watermark" section (well, mine do)

see if this achieves what you require..... I haven't used it myself so couldn't comment, although I do hear you iro the WordArt methods

  • Depends on the Printer. We have several network printers and the ability varies.

HP 8100 - has three options for watermark (draft, confidential, sample)

The Canon iR330-400 PCL has eight options plus the ability to edit to produce your own.

Thanks, Aaron, for the link to your site. I hope to correspond with you in the near future.

  • I have a HP 1200 but the problem is that I want an image and not words. I couldn't import an image into the printer software. I tried Bloods way and it looked like it was going work really well but I am having problems updating the watermark page.

What kind of problems are you having?

The picture link should update the data automatically.

Changing the watermark image should be easy enough.

  • I used your watermark sheet and put the image on and everything worked. The problem I think I am doing wrong is how to get the data sheet on the image sheet. I make two windows and after I copy and page link I drag it onto the watermark sheet. I am having a problem with updating the data on the watermark sheet. When I change numbers it won't update on the watermark sheet.

  • I have another question; is it normal that after you click the paste picture link that everytime you click the mouse it makes another copy. I get copy over copy all the time. I get three data sheets all on top of each other.

Alright, do exactly as I say (or as I've already said in the example file).

    On the data sheet:
    1. Select the range.
    2. Click "Copy"

Now select the sheet with the watermark image.

    On the watermark sheet:
    1. Hold down the SHIFT key.
    2. Click the "EDIT" button on the menu toolbar.
    3. Select "PASTE PICTURE LINK"

    plese note:
    "Paste Picture Link"
    and
    "Paste Picture"

    are NOT the same thing!

Good grief man, you've got some issues there to work out.

You are all the greatest people in the world. You have helped a big dumb animal complete a project that I have worked on for two weeks. I e-mailed Tech TV (which told could only be done in Word Art) and thought about calling Microsoft (until I saw that I would have to pay 100 to get an answer). I have told my friends and fellow teachers about this site (especially those so called computer teachers that told me it couldn't be done) The point of all this is that I really just want to say that you to all of those that helped me.
P.S. This site is a great site
