Just wondering... if you open a workbook & choose not to enable macros, is there any way to later change your mind & set macros to enabled without having to close & reopen the workbook?

The only work around if it was a problem could be something like a validation cell on your home / front page that said " enabled" / "disabled"
then when opening the workbook always enable the macro's, then on workbook open auto set this to disabled.
then you would have all macros look at this ref and if disabled not run, and you would need to dial up enabled to allow any macro to run.
may not be what you want but a thought -

Re: Enabling Macros Without Re-opening Worksheet
Hey, that is a good idea! Not sure if I will use it, but still... very innovative. If I start needing to change the enabled status of my workbooks more often I will certainly use this as a starting place for whatever system I end up implementing. Thank you very much.

Re: Enabling Macros Without Re-opening Worksheet
Only to add to this feed why not try the XLA method will give more flexibility and all macros work all the time (subject to code(s))
That way You can make thing happen in run time to not happen next open, bit of playing around required but should be doable thou

Re: Enabling Macros Without Re-opening Worksheet
I'm not really sure why the OP needs this. The only time I would open a workbook with macros disabled would be if I was not sure of the source eg an example posted here. I might want to if I didn't wan tto trigger a Workbook_Open routne, in which case somethng could be built in as suggested.
