# [Solved] Formulas: How do I divide colum A/B with the answer

• If I understand youir question correctly, you have numbers in columns A and B and want to calculate A/B in column C.

In cell C1 enter the formula:
=A1/B1

And then drag this down column C the length of the number in column A.

See the attached as an example.

Hope this is what you neeed.

• Just realized there is another possible interpretation to your post. That is dividing the sum of the entries in columns A&B by the number in column C. The following will do that for row one. Sheet 2 in the attached shows this approach

=SUM(A1:B1)/C1

By the way, select the cells in the formula columns (column C in Sheet 1 and Column D in Sheet 2) and use FORMAT > CELL > NUMBER to set the number of decimals you what to have displayed (this wil not change the underlying number/calculation itself).

• I am not sure what you mean by drag. I have had this same confusion and I know how to multiply line by line say =A1/B1 into C1 but I have a list of 2000 numbers in A and B and want them all the compute into C at once...I am not sure how to "drag" or what exactly I am supposed to do to accomplish this.
