Re: Multipage Password Control
Interesting looking Userform.
Do you want the password entered at the "workbook" open event or later for instance on "Userform" open event?
I have quite a few different examples which use myriad approaches.WestiC

Re: Multipage Password Control
i would like the form to open as read only with a password for opening to update. also so that individual pages can be opened and updated with different passwords.
initially the form would be opened by the administrator, who would only have control of page 1. page 2 and any subsequent pages would only be accessible to different people (nursing, finance ect. ) with an overall password for the computer room to reset passwords or gain access to the form as a whole.
i know it seems a lot but any help you can give would be appreciated -

Re: Multipage Password Control
You could set the Enabled property of the pages to false until the correct password is entered. Then set the pages enabled property to True.

Re: Multipage Password Control
What I am trying to do is set the "visible" property according to the ComboBox or textbox Change event.
eg.
the userform initialise event hasIf however you enter the correct password or code into the "unlock" textbox.
Code
Display MorePrivate Sub txtPassword_Change() Select Case txtPassword.Value Case "Secret Password" Page1.Visible = True Case "Super secret Password" Page1.Visible = True Case "Super Secret Password" Page2.Visible = True Page1.Visible = True Case "I am the God Of All This here Workbook" Page1.Visible = True Page2.Visible = True Page3.Visible = True Page4.Visible = True Case Else Page1.Visible = False Page2.Visible = False Page3.Visible = False Page4.Visible = False End Select End Sub
Using this code and the Un-Protect/Protect workbook and worksheet routines should work.?
I have not had time to put this into the sample sheet yet but will try to tomorrow.Haven'nt forgotten you Alexanderd.
Just been very busy.
Is this Urgent?Regards

thank you for your reply, whilst this is a project in the initial stages (it might get thrown out at this particular time ) i have to look forward and plan ahead. having read royUK comments i have started again. but i still favour the multi page approach. I hope you have found a way forward for me.
once i have over come the initial stages i will come back to you if i may. -
Re: Multipage Password Control
Don't go pasting that code and hoping it will work.
The Syntax is "up the ----" it is just a really breif outline of wht I am trying to get happening.
I have the hiding the pages bit up and running but am still looking for a work around password entry.
Even if you don't use it is is an interesting project.Regards

Re: Multipage Password Control
I have attached a version of Roys with a command Button on sheet1.
If you are going to develop some workbooks it will help if you can create basic controls and use the vba editor.
Do a search on both either in this forum or on the web for some very helpful and informative links.I like your take on the form Roy. Always educational seeing different ways to do similar tasks.
I am only happy I could get something actually working thanks to a lot of what I have picked up from yourself and the other OzGrid experts. -
Re: Multipage Password Control
at the begining i thought i had opened a can of worms, by asking if Multipage Password Control could be achieved. What has transpired is that by the exchange of information and ideas which you (westic ) and royuk have used there is now a more than usable program for all to use.
i thank you all for your endevours. -
