Microsoft Cdo For Nts 2.1 Is Missing

    I have spreadsheet which references Microsoft CDO for NTS 1.2(CDONTS.DLL) on a workstation running EXcel '97 on Windows 2000. However, cdonts.dll is missing when I run it on workstations with the following configuration:
    Windows XP SP2 and Excel 2003


    I looked at Microsoft Support Page : "where to acquire CDO libraries" and from what I could gather it is telling me that in CDO v1.2.1 that CDONTS.dll is not used anymore. However the spreadsheet does not compile without it. Is there another .dll that I need?

    I don't think I understand what you mean by "the spreadsheet does not compile without it". Is it possible you've encountered an error while writing VBA code or is it a formula in the spreadsheet that gives you the error? Can you post a small example so we can see better what you mean?

    I unticked the Microsoft CDO 1.2 for NTS (cdonts.dll) in references and replaced it with cdosys.dll (Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000) and it works fine now.

    This appears to be a reference to an object used by VBA. In the Visual Basic Editor if you look at [Tools][References...] you will see a list of "References" that includes the dlls mentioned above. I wonder what the actual code causing the problem was....


    Anyway, it's always good to here a problem has been solved. Thanks for sharing the solution ecawilkinson.
