Additional blank workbook opens with Excel

Excel 2002 - Windows XP

When opening any excel file, an additional blank workbook opens upon startup of Excel. However, once Excel is open, any other files opened will not repeat this behavior. After researching Microsoft's K-Base, I'm thinking this may be a registry issue. Any thoughts?

Hi demok,

Do you have any .xls files in this directory - -
Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office10/XLStart

If so, they will open whenever Excel is started.
