Textbox Naming Help

  • This is probably a really basic question, but I want to use a textbox to display a help file and control the visibility with a macro. How do I name the textbox or do I just have to use the default number?

I have an example where the textbox has been named HelpText and I have no clue how that was accomplished!

    Thanks,

  • Click on the border of the textbox. You can then click on the name of the textbox in the "name box" and rename the textbox as required.

  • I have done so repeatedly! Both from the insert/name/define menu and just by renaming it in the name box that appears when the textbox is selected. The name keeps reverting back to "textbox 82". What might I be doing wrong????

    Thanks,

  • I went back and attempted one last time and this time, for whatever reason, it worked. Who knows! But thanks for the help!!!!

    Thanks,

  • there's a bit of a quirk with renaming items using the "name box". When you rename items, you need to hit ENTER after changing the name. If you use the mouse to exit the name box then the new name will not be registered.

Why? I don't know. Perhaps because they wanted it that way.
