Closed Workbook To Update Itself

Hi Guys,

I am not sure it this is possible but is there a way to get the formulas in a workbook to update themselves without opening the workbook and manually clicking the update button. Maybe there is a routine to open, update, save, close that I am unfamiliar with.

Does anyone have an idea?

If you are, I think the answer is no because by definition, you would have to open the file to save it.

If you just want to update another file with the information in a closed file, you can do that.

Hi,

I was under the impression to update you had to save the file afterwards. The workbook is closed and I need it to update without being opened by the end-user. Is this possible?

the first two steps, yes that is what i want to do. For the third i want the computer to auto save the file without having the end-user have to locate the file open it, update, and save.

If its been too long let me tell you the scenario....

I have a VBA app that will pull data from two excel files that my end-user creates. I then need to take the data to two excel files that are nothing but equations. <b>This is where I need help!:</b> Now for the two excel files that have nothing but equations, for them to work properly i need to open the files each time and select autoupdate or update to update the data. Is there a way where I dont have to do this?
