I have a small query:
I have 04/02/08 12:00:01 AM (mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss AM/PM) in text format in a cell. I need to convert this to date/time custom format as given above so that I can make comparisons with NOW() output.
I would be grateful if someone could help me out.

If that string is in A1,
=DATEVALUE(A1) + TIMEVALUE(A1)
will return the serial date/time that can be compared with NOW()

Hi there,
I have a similar problem, but the above solution doesn't work for me. I still get the #VALUE error when I use the DATEVALUE or TIMEVALUE commands.
For example, I have
[TABLE="width: 310"]
24/08/2010 11:30:00 AM
[/td]
[/TABLE]
in the cell, and I get the this error regardless of whether or not this stored in the 'text' or 'dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss AM/PM' formats.
I'm at a loss - help please?

Excel uses the American M/D/YY date format as a default. Someone who works in DD/MM/YYYY would be better than I to explain converting.

Convert a text string that appears to be a UK date/time
into a date/time serial number,
formatted in a standard US or custom format.
Formulas can be merged into one cell if desired.
