I'm trying to lookup a value in a tab on a spreadsheet using this formula
=VLOOKUP(F6,Stock_Plant!$A$15:$H$79,8,FALSE), and I know the value is there but I'm getting an N/A, please help! 
I know F6, is the value I need to lookup and in the other tab, it's in column 8, but I can't get the number to pull up correctly... I know it's something really stupid..

Are the data types the same in your cells that you are looking up?
IE A1 could be a cell based on TEXT and the lookup value might be a Number? post example worksheet if you get stuck

Are the values in column A sorted ? Ascending order ( it must)

If I read this correctly your trying to look up the value in F6 in the other tab in column 8. The lookup value needs to be in column 1 in the other tab not Column 8. Column 8 would be the value that is returned once a match is made in Column 1
