Opening Excel

Every time I open Excel 2000, I get the following message "The file is not in a recognisable format". I click OK, and the XLODBC32.DLL file opens. I then close that file without saving any changes and am able to work normally with Excel. I have tried to repair Excel, but still get the same message every time I open Excel.

Any ideas on how to fix?

Sorry this is NOT an answer...
I've seen the same problems with Excel2000 at other boards(US Jpn). But no one could reply the question.

I'm not sure but try this. After uninstall MS office and remove all related files/folders then, install MS office again.

Thanks Colo for taking the trouble to reply. I was hoping there would be a simpler way other than re-installing and removing related files/folders.
