DAVE
I am saying a prayer for you and yours and all of the people affected by the fire
We have gone through the large fires here in California. I had friends that lost their homes.
Take Care

Re: Fires In Australia
Thanks, Jim. All safe here in the South-West, fires are mainly in the South-East. It sure is terrible. So far, 182 people dead and many more still missing. These are the worst fires in Australia's history, as far people killed and homes lost.
Here is Oz we have Euchalyptis trees (Gum trees) who's leaves are full of Euchalyptis oil so fires tend to burn really fierce. Couple that with 40C + temps, high winds and hilly terrain....

Re: Donate To: Victims Of Fires In Australia via Red Cross
Yeah, a few lowlifes have been collecting money and then keeping it. Best to stick with the Red cross. The lowlifes are probably the ones who started the fires. God help them if the local residents in the fire zone catch them.
So far the death toll is about 181, but there are over 100 people not accounted for. They say it will likely rise to 300 dead in the coming Weeks:( The only good thing to come out of this is the Politicians aren't fighting like School kids over helping the survivors.........for once.

Quote from jhendersonDID THE DONATION
BUT WATCH OUT FOR ALLIGATORS :gunner:Not to make light of this, but they're crocodiles in Australia. And whilst Victoria burns (smoke here in the Western District, 400km from the fires), Queensland is getting belted with cyclonic flooding, and there are literally crocodiles in the streets as many rivers are in flood. This is certainly an amazing place to live.
An update, most fires warnings have been downgraded to alert. which means they no longer pose an immediate threat to life and property. The weather this week-end was going to be a worry, but that has also been scaled back and won't be too bad. They have also had some rain on the fire grounds, so whilst we are not out of the woods by a long way, things are looking much better than a few days ago.
Cheers,
Richard
