Formulas : taking out more than 1 results

    Can anyone help??
    I need a formula to remove numbers from a series of results. If I had a series of 18 numbers and I was required to drop the highest number in the ratio of 1:6, the first formula would be =max(A1:A18)
    In the series 1,3,6,4,8,5,9,7,2,8,6,9,4,2,3,5,8,4, the number dropped would be 9. What is the formula to drop the second 9 and then the 8?

    Not sure I completely understand but I think the LARGE function might be of some use - check out the xl help.
