Hi! I have a pupil tracking spreadsheet for reading ages and chronological ages. We normally enter data as 8.09 (8 years and nine months) and 8.11 (for 8years 11 months). I realise this is not in base 10, but I now need to calculate the difference between the chronological age and reading age (preferably retaining this format, as the teachers have already used it). For example cell A1 may have a chronological age of 8.11 and cell A2 may have a reading age of 12.03. I want cell A3 to show the difference between the two (+3.04). Can anyone think of a way to do this please? Any help would be much appreciated!
Calculate age differences when entered as yy.mm

Re: Calculate age differences when entered as yy.mm
Hello,
Just trying to do this myself. The suggested formula from 5nizza doesn't work as the values are not in base 10. The answer required would be in the format yy.mm. So an increase in reading age from 11y 6 m to 12y, 2m would show as +0.8 i.e 8 months.
