If you used to use the "Microsoft Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard" to backup your settings in Office 2003, don't bother with it in Office 2007 - it doesn't work. In fact, searching the web off and on for a few weeks, I've not found any forum/discussion threads that offer a solution to this issue - just griping that the same feature isn't available in Office 2007.
There are a series of files in your local folder (D:\Documents and Settings\User.Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Office) that are supposed to keep your customization to the toolbars/menus. They were created in Office 2003 and appear to still function somewhat in Office 2007. So you could back those up and restore whenever the preferences seemed to have been wiped out. I've done some experimenting and the "Options" that you can change/customize do not seemed to be saved in those .pip files.
So the question is, where is MS hiding these files?

Okay so either no one has a need for this or no one has any idea how to solve the problem.

Re: Backing Up Preferences in Office 2007 on XP
Still no resolution to this problem although I have made some progress. The Options object appears to contain everything that can be set by the user so now it should be a simple matter of manually setting everything once, saving all of the settings, and then have the ability to restore them via the saved file anytime I need.
The issue is this: There are at least 150 different properties in the Options object. Short of hard coding each one, is there a way to step through all of them as a collection? I tried the first option with was a simple For Each but that failed - big surprise.
Any other ideas???
