Count the values in xx-xx-xx format

I have a column that has data in the format dd-mm-yy for eg. 01-45-87. I tried countif function but it is not working. I want to count the values in the column (say) that have 05 in the end as xx-xx-05 or it can be in the middle as xx-05-xx. Or it can be in the beginning as 05-xx-xx
