Re: Populate a cell based upon Name Range
Can I just put the name range for each zipcode group by district, that way it would not be as long.
Column A Column B
ZIPCODES Districts
ZIP1 1
ZIP2 2
ZIp3 3
ZIP4 4
ZIP5 5
ZIP6 6
ZIP7 7
ZIP8 8
ZIP9 9
Re: Populate a cell based upon Name Range
Below are the two sheets. I am trying to tell the main spreadsheet to put corresponding number District Number (e.g. 1) in the district column if the zipcode is one of the zipcodes for that district. If no match put a 2, or 3 whatever is applicable. Hope the picture helps.

Re: Populate a cell based upon Name Range
Thanks you for the tip. I have 9 columns of zipcodes each column is a district 1 - 9. Should the districts be in a separate column or used as column headers?
I have a spreadsheet that has typical address element City, State, Zipcode. I also have a column called District that I would like to put a number in based upon zipcode. .
I have been doing this manually and with 615 records it is time consuming. I have played with name ranges. I put the zipcodes in columns as they relate to a particular district.
I have tried Vlookup that didn't work, I tried Pivot table. I know there is someone smart out here in the cloud that give me better guidance than my mind is coming up with.
I would appreciate any assistance offered. I have limited experience. Many Thanks Rick
