how can I get text from word to excel so that data will all be in columns
is there a way that it can be done with out using text to columns?
I need to do this 4 to 5 times per day , I have pasted a copy of some of the
files that I need . the files are up to 3000 rows down

Yes it is imported. I have pasted a copy of the file
The file has some 300 rows , every day I have to delete the old file and import a new one, there are about 40 files per day it would be a bit much
to use text to columns.
That why I would like a worksheet function (if there is one) so I can leave
the formula in place.

How can I change 13Dec03 (I think it is just text , cell format is general)
to 13Dec2003 . Worksheet function preferably , I'm not good with vba.

Hi All
I have formulas in cells in column "C" and when a formula returns a "0" (zero)
I need to empty(not delete) that entire row or rows what ever the case may be, from columns "C,D,E,F,G,H" ect. on wards as far as it will go.I need to have the rows in columns "A,B" untouched , there are 8000 rows.
Is there a macro that can do this? I'm only a beginner with excel 2000
Any help will be apperciated

This function says:
If the previous 6 rows and this row do not equal "top" AND the previous 7th, 8th or 9th does equal "top" then give me the value, otherwise return empty string.

from the row that contains the word "top" the extraction always starts at the 8th row down from the row that contains the word "top"
the rows to be extracted can be the 8th row and or 9th row and or 10th row , never more. Than the word "top" starts again with the 8th row down

In column A I have the word "top" I need to extract data from the next 7-10 rows down from that word,after those rows there is the word "top" again and I need to extract data from the next 7-10 rows down and so it repeats it self for about 500 rows , the rows I need to extract data from could be just one row,two rows or three rows.( never more than three rows ).
e g : column A
row 1 top

8 extract data from this row
9 extract data from this row
10 extract data from this row

and so on

If cell A1 is blank or has a zero, how can I delete most of the row eg: row1 in column A B C D E F G ?
Is there such a formula?

I need to have the 2/7 that converted to 2nd of july back to 2/7 so that I can extract the first number (2) from 2/7.

I have down loaded a file into excel 2000.That file contains a column with numbers e g:- 2/7 ...... the first number (2) stands for 2nd place, the (/) stands for (out of) the (7) stands for seven starters.
In total : came 2nd out of 7 starters.
other numbers:
10/16
2/12
3/14

As soon as the file was put into excel those numbers turned to dates eg:-

2/7.. turned into .. 2-july .... in the formula bar 2/07/2005
10/16 ..turned into.. 1-oct .... in the formula bar 1/10/2016
2/12 ..turned into.. 2-dec .... in the formula bar 2/12/2005
3/14..turned into.. 1-march .... in the formula bar 1/03/2014

I have tried all sorts of formats before and after the down load,but no success. I have purchased books (Excel Hacks and Excel the missing manual)
What I need is : the first number (2) from 2/7
the first number (10) from 10/16 and so on.
I need the 2/7 that turned into a date (2-july) back to 2/7 so can extract the first number (2) and so on.
