Thank you for responding, but I don't really follow your response. It's a bit too technical
ANDY
an example is attached I want to change one of the dates to YANKEES WIN! or whatever
If I check the box labeled catagory name on the intial creation or within chart options on the right click menu each data point gets labeled with the name of the catagory.
I would like to label a significant event at one of these data points does anyone know how to do this? If this isn't a built in feature does anyone have a work around that would look good?
Thanks
Dave
Re: Copying a cell copies the value not the formula
I went back to the document I was working on and checked that setting. It is already on automatic. Ironically the problem seems to have fixed itself, leaving me at a loss to what happened, but thank you.
If I write a formula with the cell next to that cell within the formula, when I paste it to the cell below, it replaces the cell represented within the formula with the cell below that one, meaning the one next to cell selected, same as before. (hope everyone got that).
Now it seems that it no longer does this, it is almost like instead of copying the formula it is copying the exact value. This is not true for two reasons, it is not formatted as simple text (it usually still says accounting, which is what it is supposed to be), and when you view the content of the cell on the top bar, where it normally spells out the entire formula, it still has the correct formula, with the proper adjustments made. Meaning the formula copied properly, the cell value within the formula changed properly, but the results don't reflect this. Sometimes when I click within the cell as if to edit it then press enter to leave the cell, it adjusts to the correct figure. Has anyone ever heard of a bug like this? Does anyone have any suggestions? Feel free to post questions so I can make this post more clear.
Re: changing cell height independent of other cells in the row
Thank you, for all who want to know how to merge cells, your learn how by typing "merge cells" in the standard excel help.
Re: Skipping a line within a cell
Hit alt-enter where you want the line break to be.
Re: Skipping a line within a cell
Please ignore this question. I got it.
Is there a way to increase the height of a cell without affecting other cells on the row?
Does anyone know how to skip a line with a cell so I could write two lines of text in one cell?
I need to be able to enter into a cell the value 1-4. Every time I do it it assumes
that I want to enter a date and changes the format. When I try to change to back to general format, it gives me a decimal because the value of the cell was changed. Can anyone help.
