    Re: Linked Spreadsheets

    No .. no files have moved or been renamed.

    So I started building a new one from scratch to test it. Even now when I build a brand new sheet .. brand new link and reference to another cell in another workbook .. it updates ok, but then asks CONTINUE or EDIT LINKS.

    Very confused.

    I have an excel file that references other cells in other spreadhseets located on other drives.

    Up until this morning .. when I hit update after opening .. the values are updated.

    NOW .. when I hit update, it brings up the window .. CONTINUE or EDIT LINKS.

    Nothing has changed, yet it doesn't show me what links are borken or need to be edited.

    Can anyone help identify how we look for what links are no longer linking?

    HELP !!

    Morning all ..

    I have two macro buttons on a page that hide and unhide columns.
    When I got to protect the sheet .. the buttons no longer work and ask me to DEBUG.

    Is there a way to have macro buttons performing tasks AND have the sheet still protected?

    In the protect sheet window .. am I have ticked is

    Select Locked Cells
    Select Unlocked Cells

    But these are ticked as a default.

    Anyone help out?

    Morning all ..

    Am after the code to change a cell colour if the value is a minus figure.

    There is a formular within the cell that can either equate to an positive or negative figure .. and would like the cell changed to RED if the figure returns a negative answer.

    Thanks

    Re: sorting data MINUS the blank lines

    Hi again ..

    I have been able to remove the formulas from the cells.

    So now .. all that is in this sheet is the information entered by the users.

    Again .. looking for code to .. I guess first remove the blank cells, then sort descending

    thanks

    Re: sorting data MINUS the blank lines

    That's exactly what I need help with.

    I am unsure of the coding behind sorting and removing the lines that have no data.

    I can sort ascend and descend, but to remove the lines without data is stumping me.

    Re: sorting data MINUS the blank lines

    Sorry .. I should have said that the empty line DO have formulas in them.
    The sheet that I am sorting is dragging across the information from the 3 users who have seperate sheets they enter data on.

    Is there a way to sort only cells that have data entered?
    Or to delete cells that have no data (but they would still have their formula) then sort the sheet range?

    Hope this helps to help me :?

    Hi all ..

    Have a macro that sorts Column B ascending from B5:B3005.
    Data can be on any line within that 3000 line range as multiple users input in certain line ranges, so there are blank lines in between all data.

    But when I sort ascending, ALL blank lines in between are pushed to the bottom .. all the data is listed in one long list.

    When I go to sort it descending .. it puts all those blank lines at the top.

    Any way I can remove the blank lines and still sort descending?
    This is the code I use so far for the sort_descend

    [vba]
    Sub sort_descend()
    '
    ' sort_descend Macro
    ' Macro recorded 04/01/2006
    '

    '
    Range("B5:AF3005").Select
    Selection.Sort Key1:=Range("B5"), Order1:=xlDescending, Header:=xlGuess, _
    OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom, _
    DataOption1:=xlSortNormal
    Range("B5").Select

    End Sub
    [/vba]

    Hope someone can help

    Hi all .. hope someone can help.

    I have developed a database for ppl to enter details into and given them a template with excel to use.

    Is there a way to create a macro to SAVE the document using the data they entered into E5 & E11 as the file name? and into a different directory?

    eg .. the template is stored in g:/lending/tracking/funding
    eg .. DRUMMOND is entered into E5 & 456558 is entered into E11.

    can a macro be run to save the file as DRUMMOND 456558.xls into g:/lending/tracking/funding/stored worksheets

    Thanks :)

    Hi Ho .. Hi Ho ..

    [vba]
    Private Sub Workbook_Open()

    Run "auto_save"
    Application.OnTime Now + TimeValue("00:10:00"), "auto_save"

    End Sub[/vba]

    I have this running in this workbook .. workbook 'a'. Workbook 'a' collects information from 2 other workbooks 'b' & 'c'. When 'a' opens, the macro runs perfectly and runs every 10 minutes.

    BUT .. after it has opened and new data is entered into either 'b' or 'c', this macros ceases to run. Any reason why this would stop?

    I have included the macro 'auto_save' for reference

    [vba]
    Sub auto_save()
    '
    ' auto_save Macro
    ' Macro recorded 6/01/2006
    '
    ' This runs an auto save and auto sort
    '
    ActiveWorkbook.Save

    Range("B7:R607").Select
    Selection.sort Key1:=Range("B7"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlGuess, _
    OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom, _
    DataOption1:=xlSortNormal
    Range("B7").Select

    Range("B7:BD106").Select
    Selection.sort Key1:=Range("B7"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlGuess, _
    OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom, _
    DataOption1:=xlSortNormal
    Range("B7").Select

    Range("B7:AW106").Select
    Selection.sort Key1:=Range("B7"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlGuess, _
    OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom, _
    DataOption1:=xlSortNormal
    Range("B7").Select

    End Sub[/vba]

    Hope someone can solve why this macro stop running if new data is updated from 'b' and 'c'.

    Hey all ..

    Hope someone can answer a question for me.

    If I set a macro to run every 10 minutes within a worksheet, does this still run if the file is not open?

    If it does not .. is there a way to have a macro continuously run even if the file is not open?

    I have a macro I run to sort data.

    Can someone help me complete the code to have this run everytime I open the file that this macro is in?

    [vba]
    Sub sortB()
    '
    ' sort Macro
    ' Macro recorded 29/12/2005 by Tayler Reid
    '
    '
    Range("B7:BG106").Select
    Selection.sort Key1:=Range("B7"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlGuess, _
    OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom, _
    DataOption1:=xlSortNormal
    Range("B7").Select
    End Sub
    [/vba]
