As most of the Excel/VBA community are aware, Dave Hawley – founder of OzGrid passed away from a rare brain disease in June 2013. Dave and I ran OzGrid together, and I have been active on the Forum under Dave’s account since his passing. With the Forum upgrade now complete, it is the appropriate time for Dave’s Forum account to be retired with the very fitting title of the Wizard of Oz.

I will continue to administer the forum as the owner of OzGrid, and can be contacted through the forum if required. Dave will always be remembered as the founder of OzGrid and the huge contribution he made to the Excel/VBA community. Long live Dave’s memory as the Wizard of Oz.

I am trying to figure out how to create a new symbol in Word. Not insert an existing symbol. I want to create an L in a small circle and an R in a small to use in a diagram to label parts of the body. Similar to the copyright symbol.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Stop European Double Angle Quotation Marks

OK, once you find your normal.dot template, go to Tools > AutoCorrect Options >AutoFormat and select/deselect as required. If you place a tick in the box where it says Replace straight quotes with smart quotes, then the straight quotes will be replaced with the curley quotes each time you type them. If you leave this box unchecked, you will always get straght quotes.
Save and close the template when you have made your selection.

The next time you go to File > New in Word to get a new blank piece of paper on your screen, the changes you made to the normal.dot template will be available to you.

    Good luck.

Re: Stop European Double Angle Quotation Marks

Hi, your normal.dot template is stored on your PC somewhere. You need to find the path where it lives in order to open it.

Check with your Network Administrator to see where it lives. If you don't have one, let me know what version of Word you are using and I will find out the path for you.

    Kind regards

You know what - you guys are right - he is always working, I should know!!!!

Actually, he sleeps in most days, but mainly because he has late nights, drinking beer and watching TV whilst checking his PC every 10 minutes (like I bet some of you do)

He IS normal after all - isn't he??
