I think this could be solved without any code. The format of the labels is the same as the data the chart is based on, so if you format the cells which the bar chart is based on to "General" the data labels will get the same format.

You can try the INDIRECT function, which returns a cell reference from a text value.

=GETPIVOTDATA(INDIRECT(E5),....)

where cell E5 holds the name of the Named Range.

You could format the cell, giving it the same color as the background and then set the hidden property to true (in the Protection tab) and then finally protect the worksheet.

In this dialog you can select the colour of the cell depending on its value.

There is a function called GETPIVOTDATA which is used to extract data from pivot tables.

Let's add another way of getting the creation time of a file:

In a code module (VBE Editor Insert | Module), add the following code:

Function FileCreated() As Date
    FileCreated = ActiveWorkbook.BuiltinDocumentProperties("Creation Date")

The function returns the creation date of the active workbook.

With that amount of data I recommend using Access (since that program is created to handle large amount of data, and Excel isn't)

You can use the following code to open the SaveAs dialog:

The function returns TRUE if succesful, FALSE if the user canceled the save.
