Though the Auto_Open is supported by all versions of xl (AFAIK) -depends what version of xl the OP is using. Workbook_Open appeared in '97?
Can't replicate your error - tried Insert>Worksheet and right-clicking on a sheet tab and chose Insert... Worksheet and only got a single sheet added. Hmmm...
Only recently registered with this forum and haven't quite got to grips with the layout so this may have been mentioned before. Anyway what I was going to say was have a look at this link:
