Re: Dcount
Ok I got you. I'm sorry it's just this has really frazzled me but yes it did work in fact i gave it a third criteria which helped me out on another step as well. Thank you sorry for my ignorance. .

Re: Finding Duplicates
because the information on the "updates" is not always correct. It's ok if there's not a simple way I don't have time to write VBA for it or I'd have gone that route.
Re: Finding Duplicates
they are by date 05-30-07 (053007) and 06-01-07 (060107) so the 060107 is the newest to date list so yes I want to compare the two and show me the differences in the newest list from the oldest list or to show anything new or different on the 060107 list using the 053007 list as the criteria. I don't have a problem with manually adding the ones that are different to the third list it's more of just a time saver for finding the duplicate entries.
Re: Dcount
I don't want to use a pivot table since I already have it in excel. As for the sumif to me it looks like that would make it multiply the first criteria count (if JP) by the second (if RTO) which would not generate the right number I want to know how many RET are JP how many RET are BM ect. . . This is why I was trying to use the Dcount situation but I'm counting from different worksheets and it doesn't ever return a number. Here is what I'm using maybe my syntax is wrong:
=DCOUNT('PT Aug 07'!D1:F569,'PT Aug 07'!D1,"JP")
I know I could do it with dcount then use an "if" but I'm not very good at nesting the functions together either. . .
Re: Finding Duplicates
The list is for an event and the people on it have registered. The purpose of comparing the updates which I get 2-3 updates a week, is to know who all is on the list that's new from the previous list and if there were any changes to the ones that are on the list. So for example if you look at the 053007 sheet then have to compare it to the 060107 sheet I want to run it so that it will only show me the unique entries or differences so that I may then simply copy them and place into another sheet with multiple links to reports and multiple formulas.
Re: Finding Duplicates
Here is the example.
I have a list of companies that is a building or on going list - problem that i have is that everytime there is an update to this list they don't just send me the update but they send me the entire list and it's got around 1000 companies so it's getting very cumbersome to look through the whole thing. I tried to use conditional formatting to show me the differences with this =Not(A2=A432) this works if they are the exact same size and in the exact same order . . well they are not always the exact same order because new companies get added in or old ones deleted so it messes it up. .
Is there a better way of doing this I can post an example if needed
Thanks.
I am trying to use the DCOUNT function to count based on two different criteria in adjacent columns is this applicable.
Situation:
I have column B that contains initials and I have column C that contains a type (of store)
so it'd look like this
jp RET
jp RTO
jb RET
ma RTO
Rn CI
ma Fur
tc CI
ma RET
jp RET
and I want to have a count of how many RET's there are for Initials JP ect
Re: Nesting Functions Of Match And Offset
Ok I'm sorry I was only using the first formula for the company name my mistake it's working now thank you so very much!
Re: Nesting Functions Of Match And Offset
Ok it works so that it's returning something now so that's good but it's returning the company name and I need it to return the first name which is the offset 0,1 to the company name that it returns
Re: Nesting Functions Of Match And Offset
I'm not too familiar with the VlookUp I've tried researching it and it never works when I put it in. There should on occasion be a second occourance of the ID but that is very limited and can be over looked. How would I write it with the vlookup/ thank you.
Re: Nesting Functions Of Match And Offset
Sure here is a sample> Thanks. If you look at the example the first worksheet PrimeTime2007 is where I want to put the formula under the name coloumn. The second worksheet has the data and is an ongoing compiling list with multiple companies and their associated contact name. I want to 1st match the company name on sheet 1 to the company name on sheet 2 then get the offset value from sheet 2 that contains the first name to place in name on sheet 1
Is it possible to nest the two functions of match & offset. I am working with two worksheets. One is a constant the other is building. I want to match a text from the first spreadsheet in the second sheet (otherwords I want to find that exact within the other spreadsheet) then I want to retreive the offset value to the right of the matched cell and place it in the constant worksheet where the formula is.
For Example
Sheet 1 Sheet2
Company: First Name: Company: Name:
Adamack's ? Adamack's Patrick
So if I put the formula where the ? mark is, I want to match the first company name on sheet 1, from the range in sheet 2, then I want to get the offset from that match 0,1 to give me the name patrick. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much
Re: Conditional Formatting Formula To See Dupes
Sorry I meant to tell you that I want to show the cells that are different in red bolded.. .the top section is the criteria for bottom's conditional formatting.
Re: Conditional Formatting Formula To See Dupes
sure here it is. forum.ozgrid.com/index.php?attachment/22174/
I know it can be done cause I've used it before but I can't seem to make it work this time. I want to use the conditional formatting to compare two ranges of cells within one worksheet I know it's something like =match(A2:C12) the two ranges are sitting one on top of the other. . .
Is there a way to change case from upper case to sentence case throughout I know how to in word but I'm not finding that option anywhere in access.
Thanks a bunch!
Re: Code To Find Duplicates In Worksheets And Loop
Yes I am thanks again.

Re: Code To Find Duplicates In Worksheets And Loop
Please excuse the previous question I'm not with it today I had the columns hidden and didn't figure it out until just now. sorry . .
Re: Code To Find Duplicates In Worksheets And Loop
Ok I did find one small issue. . And no you don't have to spend anymore time on this I am so grateful for what you've done for me already, but the issue is that it will not insert more than two dates. It's and ongoing list after followup call it's then 3rd, 4th and so on infinately really without end. Is it possible for me to extend it so that it will insert it further if the data is found. ??/
