Re: code only runs right once, then needs reset
Why are you app opening and windows closing?
I think you might find the problem there.
I would try app close....
I think you get my meaning?

Re: Date Sort
By the way, you can record that unhiding of the sheet code.
Re: Date Sort
Use
Application.ScreenUpdating=False
Then some code to unhide the sheet.
Then your code above.
Then some code to rehide the sheet.
Then
Application.ScreenUpdating=True
Re: 2 comments in 1 cell
I believe, no.
Re: mail merge macro
Could you please explain in different words? I do not understand what you want. You don't need a macro to mail merge.
Re: Data Import
Yuk. Sounds horrible. Hee hee.
Where's the data coming from? Another worksheet, same file?
If same file, what's wrong with the solution I offered?
Re: Copying Rows & Columns from another workbook
As a bell.
Sorry... I have no clue how to help. But at least it's clarified for someone who can.
Re: Copying Rows & Columns from another workbook
By the way....
The new worksheet you make for data entry CAN have validation...
Re: Copying Rows & Columns from another workbook
As I understood it (please correct ME if I'm wrong):
--you have data on a worksheet
--you currently ENTER your data into that worksheet regularly, so you have validation on the cells
--you ALSO have data that you need to copy into that worksheet, but this will mess up your validation, even tho it's OK for this copied data NOT to meet the validation criteria
--you want a method to be able to copy data into yours
What I suggest is:
--STOP entering data directly into your DATA worksheet
--Make your data worksheet only for data (not for entry--remove the validation)
--Make another worksheet for entry (such as the invoice worksheet in that file I linked to, which is for data entry), and when you have entered a "record", hit submit (see the code in that workbook, which copies values entered into Invoice sheet over to Sales sheet)
Does it make any more sense now?
Re: worksheet_change event - keeping the result while deleting a cell.
Norie:
Basically, it appears he's trying to "track inventory" without keeping a history.
So
cell A = amount used
cell B = inventory on-hand
If he puts 3 in cell a, cell b is reduced by 3 (subtract cell a value from cell b). Okay, we could do this, even if it isn't "pretty" because what do you do if you enter the wrong amount? Reverse it twice? But we *could* do this with a worksheet_change.
However, he throws in another wrench. He wants to also be able to delete the value in cell a and have no effect on cell b, which may not be a problem. BUT, he also wants that if cell b now = 0, then you cannot enter a value in cell a. That makes no sense because...how do you increase inventory?
Basically, there's no history here, and I would never want a workbook like that, even if I could code it.
No offense, black knight. Just telling it like I see it.
Re: Transfer TextBox value to Cell (problem with certain numbers)
Cool!!
I think you can mark it solved?
See Thread Tools.
Re: Transfer TextBox value to Cell (problem with certain numbers)
That does seem strange.
I suppose you have checked that the cell(s) is formatted properly for numbers and not text?
(Sorry I'm not being very helpful. If nothing else, I'll help to keep your question at the top, hee hee.)
Re: Transfer TextBox value to Cell (problem with certain numbers)
Are these values upon which you intend to perform calculations?
If so, what is the difference to you between 3,30 and 3.30.
In the US, 3,30 means nothing numerically.
But 3.30 does.
So to help you, I would need to know what these mean.
And...are your regional settings correct?
Re: Data Import
What do you mean by "back"?
If you have on that "specific sheet" a lookup to a certain column of data in that range, and then do vlookups to get the rest, you could do it.
Re: Copying Rows & Columns from another workbook
On first glance, it sounds like a slight redesign would be in order.
How about moving your "data entry" to a new sheet?
If you give yourself a "form" on sheet1, you can program it to copy to sheet2. Then your validation can be on sheet1, while your data--without validation--is on sheet2.
MyInvoicing at http://www.theofficeexperts.com/downloads.htm#ExcelDownloads demonstrates it.
Re: “Click & Add” Macros to disappear on printing
Me? I will, too
Re: “Click & Add” Macros to disappear on printing
I am a lame-o, Andy!!!
It works just fine.
I ran the wrong macro.
See? This is why I try to stay away from coding. LOL!!
Re: “Click & Add” Macros to disappear on printing
Sorry, Andy.
The macrobutton is used (as you can see if you look) in such things as MS fax templates and such.
You click on it, type, and it disappears.
It's a "casual" form field, if you will.
And, though it IS a field, I cannot delete it the way I normally would.
It is NOT a form field, but I think you already understand that.
This guy just wants a way to delete them.
I've fixed the fields (that aren't really fields??!!) to be like he needs.
