    Re: Password to Open Workbook

    Greetings,
A solution I use for similar problems with a workbook, although sometimes time consuming, especially if vba is in- depth, is to select all the worksheets and copy them to a new workbook.

    Hope this Helps

Re: Listbox W/ Shared Workbook Usernames

Sorry about that, it's my first post.
Yes this the complete code I got from microsoft. i was running it off a commandbutton on a userform, but i changed it for posting purposes. I tried modifing the code with .additem, but i can't figure out what to change. I'd like to be able to run it on a userform with a listbox or combobox, mainly i just need to know how to populate the listbox, if possible.

    Thanks,
Your forum rocks, I've learned so much from you guys over the years.
I'll be sure to read over the forum rules before posting again

    GREETINGS,

I'M USING CODE THAT I FOUND FOR LISTING USERNAMES THAT CURRENTLY HAVE A SHARED WORKBOOK OPEN OVER A NETWORK. IS THERE ANYWAY THIS CODE CAN BE MODIFIED TO POPULATE A LISTBOX INSTEAD OF CREATING A NEW WORKBOOK AND POPULATING RANGES?

    MUCH THANKS

Re: lock a row for editing in a shared workbook

    Hey,
There's An Option In The Dhared Workbook Command To Ask About Conflicting Changes Between Users ("ask Me Which Changes Win") And It Shows You The Entry Conflicts Along With Other Info. I'm Sure If This Will Help, It Usaually Requires Everyones Care. I've Had Instances Where Different Pc's Have Different Configurations With This Command And It Seems Like There May Be A Way To Have One Computer Decide All The Changes But I Haven't Had A Need To Use These Options On Our Network Setup. I'd Suggest Maybe Playing Around With This. I Used To Put The Shared Workbook Command Options On A Workbook Open Or A Sheet Activate Event. So I Think You May Be Able To Get This Problem Worked Out

Re: Macros in a shared file

    Hey
Actually, All Of Your Macros Are Saved In Modules. First Open And Unshare Your Workbook. Go Down To The Sheet Name On The Bottom And Rtclick-click View Code. This Will Open The Vba Editor. In The Project Window On Your Upper Left, You Should See Your Workbook Name. If There Is No Module Folder Under It Then Rt Click-insert Module . Then Go To The Project Named Personal.xls Drag The Modules From The Personal Project To Your Sheet That You Want Shared. Now All Macros Will Be Saved To Your Shared File. Then Reshare It And Save. Remember That The Macros Can't Be Viewed Or Edited While The Workbook Is Being Shared. I Could Write All Day So Please Let Me Know What You're Having Trouble With

Re: protecting and sharing a workbook containing macros

    Hey.
I Was Just Messing Around And Came Up With A Form That Runs A Macro If The Correct Password Is Entered. If Not It Displays An Msgbox. Very Simply Paste Any Macro Code After The Fisrt Part Of The Code Before "else" On The Password Userform On My Attatchment. The Attatchment Isn't Shared So You Can View The Code.
Hopefully This Works Smoothly, I've Had Some Trouble With Attatchments Before.

    Good Luck

    Re: Editing Comment Boxes

    Hello Everyone,
In Regards To My Last Post, When Viewing The Attatchment And Activating The Macro On It, It Caused My Excel 2003 To Crash. When I Downloaded It I Chose Run Which Didn't Agree. Please Save This Attatchment To Your Harddrive Or Disk And Open It From There. The Macro Executed Successfully. To The Moderators Of This Forum- If This Is Not Acceptable, Please Remove My Post. I'm Not Trying To Crash Anyones Computer And I'm Very Sorry To Anyone Who Has Had Problems.

    Sincerely

    Re: Shared workbook information

    HELLO,
COULD YOU JUST USE THE BUILT IN COMMAND FOR SHARE WORKBOOK?
THE FIRST WINDOW WILL SHOW ALL THE ACTIVE USERS.

    Code
    Sub Sharewkbk()
    CommandBars.FindControl(Id:=1849).Execute
    End Sub

    HOPE THIS HELPS

    Re: Splash screen

Hey, I Did Something Along The Same Lines. As Far As I Know, A Picture Won't Show Or Anything Besides The Caption On The Top Of The Userform. I Shrinked Down The Form So Just The Top Captionbar Shows, Which Can Be Changed In And Out Of Loops. Sorry I Couldn't Give You An Answer To Your Problem. Hopefully We Can Both Get An Answer Because It Seems Like An Easy Way To Show Code Is Running

Re: Sharing: Lost Changes to Saved Shared File (Excel 97 under W

    Hey
Make Sure All Of Your Shared Workbook Change History And Autoupdate Settings Are Identical. One Of Your Pc's May Be Administering Over The Others. Try This, Test It And See If It Works. I Ahd A Problem With This Before And Thought It Was An Opearting System Problem, But I Think What I Tols You Should Help.

    Good Luck

Re: Sharing: Excel file shared over network

    Hey
By Any Chance, Is The Network Connection Or Any Of The Pc's Pretty Slow? When Trying To Save On A Shared Workbook, We Had A Problem With Computers Taking Up To 2 Or 3 Minutes To Save A Few Workbooks. More Than One Computer Saving At A Time Made It Time Out, Lock Up And Attempt To Create Temporary Files. We Got Newer Machines, New Network Switchers And Now We're Great.
Also Make Sure Exeryones Change History Settings Are Identical.
    Hope This Helps A Little.

Re: Tranfering Files and updating links with the spreadsheet

    Hey,
Make Sure All The Files That Are Linked Are In The Same Folder Name And Layout As On Your Local Hardrive. If You Change Any Folder Name Or Workbook Name The Links Will Be Dead. Are You Still Running Files Off Of Your Local Hard Drive? If You Keep Everything Identical, And Copy It, It Should Work. Run Everything Off The Server Or Additional Drive

    Re: Editing Comment Boxes

    Hey
I Had The Very Same Problem
So I Created A Userform That Can Be Activated On A Sheet Selectionchange Or By Rt Clicking On The Cell With The Comment.
The Comment Is Edited In The Textbox On The Form And Automaticvally Changes The Comment. It's Also Useful If You Have A Small View Percentage. Then You Can't Even Read The Comments.
I Attatched A File. There's Code On The Sheet1 Object. If You Need A Better Explanation, Let Me Know

Re: Shared Workbook getting too large.

    Hey
I've Had Similar Problems And Concluded That It's A Change History Error. Everything Compiles In It And Grows Abd Grows. First Of All I'd Suggest Moving All Your Sheets In The Book To A New Book, Mods, Forms And Macros Too. Close And Move You're Old Book Or Rename It. Make The New Book The Same Name As The Old. Keep Your Old One In Case Any Of The Macros Don't Work In The New One. Adjust Your Change History In The Shared Workbook Command. If You Don't Need To Use The History Turn It Off. If You Need It, Make Sure Each Pc Is Configured The Same. I Think The Autosave Can Sometimes Screw Things Up, So I Switched To Manual Saves When Done Working. It Seems To Update A Little Smoother.
Give Me Some Feedback And I'll Try To Work You Through It. We've Eliminated This Problem So Far.

    Hey
Are The Security Settings All The Same On Each Computer?
I've Found Lately, That Some Mods Can't Be Found Because Of An Error Some Where Else. When You Say You Logon, Is It Your Own Computer Or Everyone Elses.
Let Me Get Some Feedback And We'll Discuss It. I've Had Similar Problems

    Re: Sharing a workbook

    Pethe
It Sounds Like Inserting A Sheet Is No Problem, Unless You Have Protection On Your Workbook Itself, Or The Shared Aspect Of It. Excel 2003 Offers Many Options Of Protection To Enable To A User. One Thing You Can't Do Is Delete Sheets Off A Shared Workbook, That May Require Possibly Having Your Code Rename The Sheet And Hide It Until You Can Do Maintenance On It. I've Created Many Maintenance Programs For Myself To Use In This Cause, Which Is One Work Around Of Sharing And Unsharing After Everyone Is Off..it Depends On How Many Users Are Editing The Workbook And How Often You Can Maintain It. Thus Taking Some Of The Automation Out Of It.
As Far As Your Reports On The Status Of Your Workbook I'm Not Sure What's Being Restricted. Information Can Be Deleted In Different States Of Protection.
Is Your Workbook Protected Before You Share It?
    Is The Shared Workbook Protected?
I'm Sorry I Can't Be More Specific To Your Problem.
If You Want To Post Your Code, I'd Be Happy To Try To Execute It
    For You

    Re: Sharing a workbook

Possibly Lowering Your Security Level Can Help. Macros Are Most Definetly Possible In A Protected Shared Workbook. You May Just Have To Work Around The Limitations. I Beleive Anything Is Possible In Excel, Especially With Vba. Don't Give Up, There Is A Way. If You Can Be Specific About The Macros You Are Using, Maybe I Or Someone Else Can Give You The Right Direction. I Work With Many Shared Workbooks That Are Loaded With Vba, Macros And Userforms, Being Modified By Many People Simoutaneously All Day.
